Yesterday, the Missouri House passed the AUL-drafted resolution on the federal Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) by a vote of 116-40. Showing the priority the legislature holds on opposing FOCA, it was only the second piece of legislation to be voted on by the House after a jobs bill.
AUL’s Missouri State Director Kerry Messer said regarding the resolution’s passage, “The legislature had a spirited two-day debate about the dangers of the federal government following through with President Obama’s pledge to sign FOCA into law. With 45 new House members, this vote gave us the opportunity to have an early recorded pro-life vote. And it shows we have the votes in the House necessary if we need to override a veto by Governor Nixon of the pro-life legislation we’ve prioritized for this year.”
Many thanks to Kerry Messer in helping shepherd this through. If you’d like to drop Kerry an email to thank him for his great work on this, you can email Missouri@AUL.org.
