AUL Joins Forces with Freedom2Care

by Melanie Johnson on March 27, 2009

AUL and AUL Action are participating organizations in the coalition, Freedom 2 Care, found at Freedom2Care.org. This coalition’s goal is “To educate and persuade the public, policy makers and the medical community regarding conscience rights in healthcare.”

AUL and AUL Action applaud the coalition for the value they place on “preserving historic American civil rights and freedoms in the field of healthcare.”

The coalition has divided their goals into both immediate and long term. The immediate goal is “to protect the federal ‘provider conscience’ regulation finalized in December 2008 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.”

Freedom2Care’s long term goals seek to educate the public, policy makers, and the medical community on the importance of conscience rights in healthcare.

Similar to AUL, Freedom 2 Care has many ways to take both immediate and long term action on the issue of conscience rights. To learn more, visit their website, Freedom2Care.org.

I am the widow of a Pastor. We had to deal with two girls who had abortions. One of them died and her parents didn’t know she had had an abortion. She had breakfast with her father; said she wasn’t feeling well and went back to bed. He found her dead in a few hours.

Another young lady had an abortion, but she didn’t hide the face. My grandson who was staying with me at the time was born near the time of her abortion. For a long time she would come and ask if she could take him for a ride and get a dairy-queen. She would bring him back in a few hours.

I asked her sister what her attachment to my grandson was. The told me what she had done and when. Her sister said she was haveing a very hard time with the fact she had an abortion.

Abortion leaves emotional scars and causes regrets. The biggest problem we found was they couldn’t forgive themselves for taking the life of their child.
